All activities have skill-based failure rates that depend on your skill levels:

Base Failure Rate: 10%

Below Average Rate: 20% (0.5x XP)

Low Skill Penalty: +10-15% failure if skill < 20

How Performance Works

  • Performance Score: 0-100%
  • Starting Performance: 50% (neutral)
  • Warning Threshold: Below 20% performance
  • Performance Decay: -3-5% per in-game year if not working

Performance Impact Per Work Activity

  • Activity Quality: 0-100 (based on RNG + your skills)
  • Performance Change: (Quality - 50) × 0.15
  • Example: 80 quality = +4.5% performance
  • Example: 30 quality = -3% performance

Performance Warnings

  • Warning Issued: When performance drops below 20%
  • Improvement Period: 1-2 years (random) to improve above 20%
  • Termination: If performance stays below 20% after deadline

Performance Tips

  • Work regularly. Even mediocre work is better than decay
  • Build relevant skills. Higher skills mean better work quality
  • Don't let it drop below 30%. This gives you buffer before warning
  • Take warnings seriously. You have 1 to 2 years to recover
